registered Psychologist

Lincoln Farmer

Lincoln is a Registered Psychologist who works in a reflective, warm, and practical way. He creates a collaborative and non-judgemental space where clients feel understood, supported, and encouraged to explore both the challenges in their lives and the futures they want to create.

At the centre of Lincoln’s practice is the belief that our strongest growth comes from the combination of insight and action, not merely one or the other. He recognises that while many people already possess the strengths, skills, and resilience needed to navigate life's challenges, some just need a little support to unlock that potential.

Lincoln’s approach is grounded in evidence-based psychological practice, employing a range of therapeutic modalities tailored to the unique presentations of each client. He most often utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MTB), and numerous other approaches.

With experience supporting individuals across a range of backgrounds and life stages, Lincoln brings a broad understanding of the complexity of human experience. He is an ultramarathon runner, avid chess player, small business owner, and has previously served in the Australian Army Reserve.

These experiences have fostered his appreciation for resilience, responsibility, pressure, and the challenge of navigating life's transitions. He believes effective therapy involves balancing self-compassion with the courage to take action in pursuit of meaningful and lasting change.

Lincoln works with adults and adolescents over the age of 16, with a particular interest in depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, personality disorders, and alcohol and substance difficulties. He is also interested in negotiation and mediation, and in supporting people navigating life transitions and complex circumstances including retirement, separations, bereavement, and pressures of business ownership.

Clients working with Lincoln can expect a space that is thoughtful, authentic, and occasionally accompanied by gentle humour, where they are supported to better understand themselves, develop practical tools, and move towards a life more aligned with who they are and what matters most to them.
